We come from a family involved in agriculture, mainly olive cultivation, since the olden days. We still have old tools from a traditional olive press in the village of Liapades, but unfortunately younger generations did not follow this way of life and turned to other professions.
My father used to go to the fields and to the olive groves, even though he was a former policeman, because he had a passion for working with the olive trees, and when I went with him, I really liked this occupation and nature.
I decided to become an agriculturalist and so I went to a higher technological school which is now the Hellenic Mediterranean University of Crete.
Finally and after years of effort I succeeded and created with the help of the family a small private semitraditional olive press in my village “Marmaro” which located at Corfu Island.
This olive oil is produced from whole first cold-pressed olives and has a health claim, EU Regulation 432/2012 is commonly used in cooking, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and is used all over the world.
